Earth Day Event Success!

Eighteen volunteers participated in our Earth Day clean-up and planting along the Malden River.  We removed over 15 bags worth of trash and planted pansies, lettuce, and cilantro in pots to beautify the area.   The event was part of the Greater Boston Mystic River Clean-Up, a nine organization effort to coordinate events in the Mystic River Watershed in honor of Earth Day.  For more information, please see Boston.com for articles publicizing the event and covering the event.

Walk the Malden River

Don't forget to bring a water bottle

Tomorrow afternoon is our 3rd session of EMAP. We are going to walk the Malden River! If you are a member of Youth A.C.T. and you want to join us be sure to have your permission slips (you can get them from Youth A.C.T. or the Cyber Café) and be ready to do some thinking and some drawing. We’re meeting at the Cyber Café @ Malden Square at 3 pm.  We look forward to seeing you!

The Malden River

The Malden River connects Melrose, Malden, Everett and Medford, flowing north to south. The river has been straightened, deepened and even put underground. Flow in the lower part of the river is controlled by the Amelia Earhart Dam.   For more information on the Malden River, see the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) Action Plan (pg 3).

How to add a post to the blog…

Once you have received an email stating that you have been asked to be an author on the EMAP blog, you will need to follow the link in the email to create a username and password. Please pick something that you can remember and that is appropriate, as I will not have a way of actually entering your individual account.

After you are connected to the blog, click ‘My Dashboard’ and you will see a webpage with a lot of information–including a section called ‘QuickPress’. In the QuickPress section you can type in the Content section, or click one of the icons to add (from left to right): an image, a video, audio, media, or a poll.

Please tag your entry with your name and any important information (ie. photo, idea, poem).

Let me know in the comment section if this is helpful. See you on Friday!
